Vacheron Constantin marks 30 years of the Overseas with a 200-piece perpetual calendar
Vacheron Constantin has marked thirty years of the Overseas with a limited-edition perpetual calendar that returns to the ultra-thin, integrated-bracelet formula on which the collection was built.
What has been announced
The Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin 30th Anniversary was announced on 24 September 2026 as a limited edition of 200 pieces in 18 ct white gold, reference 4300V/220G-H119. It uses the same 41.5 mm tonneau-shaped case as the current Overseas Perpetual Calendar, at 8.1 mm thick, with the collection's six-notched bezel resting on a round plinth. Water resistance is 50 metres, and the perpetual calendar keeps a push-pull crown rather than the screw-down crown used on the standard dive-rated Overseas models.
The new element is the dial: a lacquered azure blue with a sunburst finish, lighter than the blue that entered the Overseas family in 2016. The calendar is spread across three snailed, recessed sub-dials — a 48-month and leap-year register at 12 o'clock, the date at 3 o'clock and the day of the week at 9 o'clock — with a moon-phase aperture at 6 o'clock. The moon is rendered in 18 ct white gold, the minutes track and leap-year highlights are picked out in light blue, and the applied indices and hands carry blue-glowing Super-LumiNova.
Inside is the manufacture calibre 1120 QP/1, an automatic perpetual-calendar movement around 4 mm thick with 276 components, running at 2.75 Hz (19,800 vibrations per hour) with a power reserve of 40 hours. It carries the Hallmark of Geneva, and its solid 22 ct gold rotor is engraved with a compass rose. The watch is delivered on a white gold bracelet with the collection's half-Maltese-cross links and a micro-adjusting clasp, and comes with two further straps — white rubber and denim blue rubber — plus an interchangeable white gold pin buckle, all changeable without tools.
Thirty years of the Overseas
The Overseas lineage begins with the 222, the integrated-bracelet sports watch designed by Jorg Hysek and launched in 1977 as Vacheron Constantin's answer to the Royal Oak and the Nautilus. The first Overseas proper arrived in 1996, carrying over the 222's tonneau-shaped case and adding a notched bezel that echoed the arms of the Maltese cross. A second generation followed in 2004 with a 42 mm case and half-Maltese-cross bracelet links, and the current generation, introduced in 2016, brought more fluid lines and a toolless strap-change system. The Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin made its debut within that 2016 generation, where it was used to mark the collection's twentieth anniversary; ten years on, it has been chosen again for the thirtieth.
The Overseas is one of the few integrated-bracelet sports watches with real breadth above the time-and-date level, spanning chronographs, world timers and precious-metal complications. That range, together with the continuing pull of the original 222, is part of the reason the collection has become steadily more visible in the second-hand market.
Prices, availability and what it means for buyers and sellers
Monochrome reported a retail price of CHF 120,000 including taxes. Fratello, covering the same launch, said Vacheron had not published an official price at the time of writing and noted that regular Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin models start from around £142,000. UK pricing for the anniversary edition had not been confirmed. Production is capped at 200 pieces, and the model is a limited edition rather than part of the permanent collection.
For the pre-owned market, a 200-piece edition is unlikely to appear in any volume, and certainly not quickly, so the more useful signal is what an anniversary piece does to the collection around it. Anniversary editions and re-editions tend to pull collectors back to the references that came first, and the Overseas has a clear line of descent from the 222. Owners of an Overseas — particularly a perpetual calendar, or a 222 re-edition — may find this a sensible moment to establish what their watch is worth.
For buyers, the reminder is the familiar one: the appeal of a limited edition at launch is not the same as its value later. What determines the price of any Overseas is the reference, its condition, its completeness and its history — so those are the things worth checking first.
